Travel Checklist

Make sure you do the following things before moving to the UK to make your move as smooth as possible:

  1. Ensure that you have arranged your accommodation
  2. Buy travel tickets and insurance
  3. Check your luggage weight against your airline’s allowances
  4. Bring original copies (and translations) of relevant certificates and examination results for College registration
  5. Double check that your passport is in date and bring a photocopy just in case
  6. Check the HM Revenue and Customs website to see what you can bring into the UK
  7. Complete your visa application correctly to get your visa
  8. Check your government’s restrictions on taking money out of the country
  9. Check with your bank about regulations concerning transferring money to the UK
  10. Obtain British Currency to use during your first few days in the UK
  11. Obtain a letter of explanation from your doctor for any prescribed medicine you may need to bring with you
  12. Apply for your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) if you don’t already have one


Entry and Immigration to the UK

  • You will not need a visa if you hold a passport issued by the UK or any other country in the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.
