What is LAUNCH?

NCH understands the importance of thinking about your future while you are studying for your degree so that you are ready to succeed in whatever you choose to do as soon as you graduate. LAUNCH is an essential part of the NCH experience, providing a practical counterpart to complement your academic experience.

Taught across each of the three years of your undergraduate programme, LAUNCH fosters the fundamental capabilities that are essential for a wide range of different professions. LAUNCH encourages you to develop the attitudes and behaviours required to excel in any field – from law, finance and consulting, to marketing, advertising and TV, setting up your own enterprise, or postgraduate study.

One-to-one Careers Clinics

Each year, you will also participate in an intensive, one-to-one Careers Clinic with the College’s expert and highly experienced careers counsellors, who will help you map out what you want to do after NCH and will work with you to formulate a detailed plan, tailored to achieve your individual goals.

What will you learn?

While we will teach some specific capabilities, LAUNCH is not a professional skills programme. It is about fostering the winning attitudes and behaviours that underpin rich, and worthwhile lives beyond NCH. Our students are extremely creative, get mistakes out of their system while at the College and, above all, learn by doing. NCH produces graduates who are bright, curious about their world and who have the confidence to get things done.

The LAUNCH programme is designed around three major projects; in your first year, you will respond to a brief from a client.; in the second year you will create a new concept and write and test a business plan; and, in your final year, you will build a website or app.

Taught by practitioners

A distinctive feature of the LAUNCH programme is that it is delivered by practitioners, not academics. As a result, our Visiting Fellows are entirely up to date with the latest best practice and aware of what organisations are looking for from the graduates they recruit.
