Sit Down With… Lucy (History)
Sit down with… Lucy (History with Philosophy BA (Hons))
Lucy found it difficult to choose between History and Philosophy for her degree but lucky at NCH she didn’t have to! All of our undergraduates combine (at least) two subjects, with the exception of the single-honours Law LLB.
In this video, Lucy discusses her journey to NCH, including the exclusive afternoons designed just for offer-holders to get to know the College better before they join. Also, before joining NCH, Lucy made use of UniBuddy – the social network designed to match up aspiring students with current students at their chosen university. It is a great way to ask as many questions as you like without having to take a phone call or visit the College. You can also chat with all of the ambassadors you met at your NCH Open Day, Interview Day or other College events.
Lucy was apprehensive before her big move to London but settled in quickly at her student halls. She now has friends across different London universities, which has really opened up opportunities to attend different social events and see another side of London.
Lucy describes the unique experience at NCH, with frequent opportunities to submit essays, both formative (not counting towards your final grade) and summative (credit-bearing). Discussion is a key aspect of the learning model, and most, if not all, classes will include opportunities to discuss concepts further and debate with your colleagues. Lucy notes that lecturers and tutors are always on hand to support you as you progress, whether that is in your one-to-one tutorial, via email or in additional meetings.
