‘A colourful introduction to philosophy with data science’
In this taster session, we aim to engage perspective students of New College of the Humanities (NCH) with using data science methods for testing propositions based on the veridicality of observations. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to perform simple data analysis (e.g. computing the average and variance of responses) and data visualization in Python to examine differences in colour naming between American and British English speakers. Multiple factors that influence colour communication effectiveness will be discussed with practical examples.
We look forward to welcoming current Year 12 and Year 13 who are interested in studying Data Science
