Lecture Title: Why Does Poverty Persist? Lessons from Latin America

In this lecture, we will look at some general theories of economic development and how they relate to political institutions and decisions. Different theories or approaches to political institutions are used to offer plausible explanations as to why poverty, crime and underdevelopment persist in the region.
