Rationality and Irrationality
Why follow reason? Why adhere to objectivity, truth, the existence of a real world? Can we use reason to justify reason? Do we even need to? Is it irrational to fall in love, enjoy a sunset, indulge now and forget about tomorrow? Can morality be grounded in reason? Is it ever rational to be irrational? Examples to be explored will include discounting the future; paradoxical tactics, rational ignorance, and the psychology of taboo.
