About Dr Tom Williams

Dr Tom Williams is an Assistant Professor in Philosophy at Northeastern University London. Before joining Northeastern University London Tom studied philosophy at UCL. He was awarded his PhD in 2022. Prior to this, he completed a BA and an MPhilStud in philosophy, both at UCL.

Dr Tom Williams's Research

Tom’s research is in philosophy of mind, philosophy of language and philosophical logic. His doctoral research was on acquaintance and singular thought. This was supported by an Arts and Humanities Research Council doctoral award. Tom is currently working on issues related to semantic relationism, identity judgement, descriptive names, empty thoughts and singular propositions.

Dr Tom Williams's Teaching

Tom will be teaching philosophy of mind, philosophy of language and logic at Northeastern University London. Previously he taught in the philosophy department at UCL. He led seminars and tutorials on philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, logic, set theory, epistemology, metaphysics and philosophy of maths. He was module leader and lecturer for a logic course at UCL in 2021. He has also taught in the linguistics department at UCL and in the philosophy department at Birkbeck.
