Summary

Studying the History with Data Science BA (Hons), you will develop both your historical knowledge and your ability to communicate it effectively. You will explore a broad range of historical periods from the Roman Empire through to present-day America in depth, and take courses examining the historical discipline itself, and its practice and applications. You will also learn to effectively use databases, systems and analytical tools to generate insights and intelligence

Teaching & Learning

You will typically experience an average of 8 or more hours of high-quality contact time in each teaching week, in considerably smaller groups than are the norm for UK institutions at the undergraduate level, if you choose to study History as your major subject. The exact number of contact hours will depend on your choice of  any optional courses. Read more

Your contact hours will include a mixture of teaching methods best suited to the subject matter and to achieve the learning outcomes for each individual course. Teaching formats include one-to-one tutorials, group tutorials, seminars, and lectures of between 10 and 60 students for your History courses, and lecture/seminars and interactive hands-on labs for your Data Science courses.

As a new degree, the College is yet to have information about graduates of this specific programme, however our degree and Diploma can take you anywhere, and career paths of recent graduates of the History major include:

Frankie (2015) undertook summer internships at Historic Royal Palaces, Rund Partnership, and Savills. Originally graduating with a role at Lambert Smith Hampton as Graduate Surveyor, Property Management, Frankie has rotated through Lease Advisory, Real Estate Advisory and Valuations, while completing her Masters in Interdisciplinary Design in the Built Environment at the University of Cambridge. She is currently Senior Sustainability Surveyor at Lambert Smith Hampton. 

Alfred (2015) took his MSt Global & Imperial History at the University of Oxford and is now an Analyst at Glenmont Partners. Johnny (2015) graduated with a role as an Associate at KPMG. He progressed to the role of Tax Consultant at Pirola Pennuto & Associati, and is currently a Forensic Accountant at BTVK Advisory.

Marius (2016) graduated with a role as Product Manager at Doddle Parcels and participated in the New Entrepreneurs Foundation Programme. He progressed to Growth Manager at MyTutor and is currently Growth Manager at Coconut. He is also a co-founder of Student2StartUp.

 

Morgan (2016) followed her undergraduate degree with a Masters in Human Rights at Columbia University, New York. Having been a Researcher at the Institute for the Study of Human Rights and a Global Advocacy Intern at Human Rights Watch, she is currently Campaigns & Research Assistant at Crisis Action.

Jess (2017) graduated with a job as Audit Associate in Investment Management at KPMG.
