Recruitment, Admissions, Marketing & Visas at NCH
The Recruitment team visits schools in the UK and internationally to meet prospective applicants and tell them about what NCH has to offer. They also arrange open days and taster days at our base in Bedford Square. The Admissions team provides information and advice on applying to NCH and processes all applications. They also provide guidance on the Tier 4 visa application process for international students.
The Marketing department creates and implements NCH’s marketing strategy and manages all aspects of NCH’s brand, marketing communications. They are responsible for all external and internal communications, including nchlondon.ac.uk, PR, advertising, promotional emails, NCH’s presence on other websites, social media, films, all print and branded materials, and marketing analysis.
Martin Smith LLB, LLM
Assistant Vice President for Recruitment & Marketing for the Global Campuses
Martin is responsible for the recruitment and marketing function across much of Northeastern University’s campus network, including: Charlotte, London (NCH), San Francisco, Seattle, Silicon Valley, Toronto and Vancouver. Martin gained extensive experience of student recruitment at the University of Law, including the development of the international recruitment department and the agent network . Before this, he was a lecturer in law at the College of Law, the University of Kent and the University of Reading. He was previously a solicitor in the City with Denton Wilde Sapte, specialising in EU and competition law. He holds LLB and LLM degrees.
Elizabeth O'Connell MA (Edinburgh)
Director of Admissions, Recruitment & Marketing
Elizabeth is responsible for the full spectrum of brand, marketing, market research, internal communications and customer data management and analysis at New College of the Humanities, and manages the College’s marketing team.
Elizabeth’s 23 years as a marketing professional include wide-ranging international marketing management roles such as Head of Sponsorships for Diageo and Guinness in Africa and, during ten years at British Airways, managing the airline’s sponsorships of the London 2012 Olympic bid and of the British & Irish Lions New Zealand tour, and leading the North American consumer marketing team and frequent flyer programme in New York from 2000 to 2004.
Elizabeth earned her MA in Spanish at the University of Edinburgh.
Head of Marketing
Millie is responsible for all digital activity and analytics at New College of the Humanities. Before joining NCH, Millie previously worked for a media agency on a variety of clients including Lloyds Bank & Vodafone. Millie also managed PPC and SEO channels for Nepresso UK & Ireland. Millie graduated in Law from Brunel University and studied her masters in Marketing at Kent University.
Mollie Charge BA (NCH)
Head of Admissions
Mollie joined the Recruitment & Admissions team in August 2018 and mainly focused on UK schools as well as the running of Open Days and Offer Holder Events, particularly the Offer Holder Scavenger Hunt.
Mollie is now the Head of Admissions at NCH, and is responsible for organising the admissions process from start to finish. This includes processing applications, organising interviews, sending out offer letters, as well as answering general admissions queries.
Before joining the team, Mollie studied History with Philosophy BA at NCH, graduating in 2018. She is now studying MA Historical Research & Public History part-time alongside her job.
Marie-Anne Martin MA (Cantab)
Senior Recruitment Manager
Marie-Anne manages the European student recruitment function at New College of the Humanities, working in tandem with the Recruitment and Admissions Adviser (Europe). With responsibility for strategic planning and operational implementation of all European market recruitment activity, Marie-Anne’s remit includes schools relationship marketing, agent management, and in-country recruitment events and exhibitions. Originally from the Midlands, Marie-Anne read English Literature at the University of Cambridge. After graduation, she moved to Japan where she spent three years teaching English through the government-sponsored JET Programme. She subsequently moved into the NGO sector, and worked for two and a half years for Habitat for Humanity International, a global house-building charity, in the Philippines and Thailand. Her role as Regional Manager of the Global Village volunteer programme comprised marketing and volunteer recruitment, as well as operational management of host affiliates throughout east and southeast Asia. Marie-Anne returned to the UK in 2003, and moved into the higher education sector. She worked at Regent’s University London for eight years, across both student recruitment and marketing functions, with a broad institutional portfolio of UK and US undergraduate and postgraduate business and humanities programmes. From 2008-2012 she held the role of Head of Student Recruitment Marketing at the University, in which she managed the recruitment and marketing functions and teams. During this period, she project-managed the marketing for the launch of the University’s new School of Drama, Film and Media, and recruitment of the inaugural student cohort, as well as supporting programme revalidation and institutional acquisition of Taught Degree Awarding Power. She joined New College of the Humanities in 2012. Marie-Anne holds a Professional Diploma in Marketing through the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and is a member of the Institute.
Syed Zaidi MBA (Anglia Ruskin University)
Visa and Immigration Compliance Manager
Syed is responsible for ensuring that NCH remains fully compliant as a Tier 4 sponsor. He is also responsible for student matters related to Tier 4 visa. One of his main responsibilities is to ensure that the visa students gets all the help they require during their entire enrolment lifecycle and to support visa students to remain compliant with Tier 4 immigration rules.
Syed has extensive Tier 4 immigration knowledge along with the knowledge of compliance. He has worked in the HE sector for over 10 years, working for private and publicly funded organisations.
Prior to joining NCH, Syed has worked as Admissions and Immigration Compliance Manager for Istituto Marangoni, Visa Compliance Manager at Anglia Ruskin University and as the Head of International Admissions at Anglia Ruskin University’s London campus.
Brian Butler BA (Ohio State)
Senior Recruitment & Admissions Adviser
Having attended Ohio State University, Brian moved to the UK 25 years ago, from the United States. He began his career in international student recruitment with The University of Law three years ago and, during that time, discovered his passion for Higher Education and International Student Recruitment. With a background in Marketing & PR, Brian has been able to apply those skills to the area of Student Recruitment and Admissions. It is the ability to help students make the right choices for them, in regards to their education, that inspires him and drives him forward.
David Skeoch Mannion BA (Oxford Brookes), MA (UCL), PGCE (KCL)
Senior Recruitment & Admissions Adviser
Before joining NCH, David worked at the US-UK Fulbright Commission, advising UK students on their US higher education options and related admissions processes. He is a qualified English teacher with experiences across secondary and higher education, and communications and PR in a variety of sectors.
Kinga Jurkiewicz BA (NCH)
Recruitment & Admissions Adviser
Kinga joined the Recruitment and Admissions team just before graduating from the NCH’s own Philosophy, Politics and Economics BA (Hons) (Philosophy major) in September 2019.
Kinga is responsible for supporting students throughout the application process and during their time as offer holders, by managing the NCH Buddy scheme and arranging events for offer holders.
Kinga also manages NCH’s Student Ambassador scheme, liaises with schools, and represents the College at external events.
Hayley Pazmino BSc (Bath)
Widening Participation Manager
Hayley is responsible for the development and delivery of Widening Participation and outreach activities at the College. Hayley also chairs the Widening Participation working group and is responsible for keeping up to date with the requirements of the Office for Students and best practice in the Higher Education sector regarding Access and Participation.
Hayley previously worked at the College as an Admissions and Recruitment Assistant, informing students about their study options at NCH and processing both UCAS and direct applications.
Before joining the NCH team, Hayley graduated from the University of Bath with a BSc Biochemistry degree.
Anthonia Bakare LLB (Hertfordshire)
Visa & Admissions Officer
Anthonia is responsible for assisting with the admissions processing, particularly with applications from international students at all stages of the application process. As well as the administration of visa compliance and supporting visa students to remain compliant with Tier 4 immigration rules, she is also responsible for ensuring NCH remains compliant with its Tier 4 sponsorship duties and retention of sponsorship status.
Prior to joining NCH, Anthonia has worked in Tier 4 compliance at LSBU. Anthonia holds a LLB degree from the University of Hertfordshire.
Marketing Communications Officer
Natalie is responsible for delivering a range of digital marketing communication for NCH, including oversight of the social media channels, website updates as well as accommodation queries and bookings for NCH students.
Natalie graduated from De Monfort University with a BSc in Radio Production and has previously worked at a number of universities in London.
Lucy is responsible for assisting the marketing team with communications about summer events and the upcoming term.
She is a graduate of New College of the Humanities with a BA in History with Creative Writing. She will be starting her masters in Film and Screen Media at Birkbeck, University of London in the autumn.
Marketing Communications Assistant
Laura is responsible for producing a range of content for New College of the Humanities, including assisting with social media, copywriting for digital and print channels and updating the NCH website.
Laura graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BA in English Literature and has previously worked in editorial and marketing roles.
Ryan Lucas-Reid BSc (LSBU)
Ryan joined the Recruitment and Admissions team in August 2021 and helps to guide new applicants through the application process.
Before joining NCH, Ryan was a Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator for Postgraduate courses at Warwick Business School and prior to this has a background in Fashion Buying and Store Planning.
Ryan graduated from London South Bank with a BSc in Criminology.
Digital Marketing Assistant
Ellena joined New College of the Humanities as a marketing degree apprentice assisting the marketing team with digital content whilst studying towards a BSc (Hons) Digital Marketing degree, at London South Bank University.
Before joining the team Ellena studied A-level Business, Psychology and Sociology at Reigate Sixth Form College.
