New College of the Humanities to expand with new central London campus in 2021

NCH London | October 13, 2020

Spacious area of 38,000 sq ft will deliver significantly enhanced facilities

Thriving local community provides wide-range of facilities and amenities

New campus creates opportunity for the College to strengthen its unique identity

Having outgrown the capacity of our current premises at 19 Bedford Square, London, and following yesterday’s completion of a new lease contract, New College of the Humanities is pleased to announce that our campus is to relocate to spacious new premises at Devon House, in central London’s St Katharine Docks (SKD), from summer 2021.

With 38,000 square foot of space across the ground and first floors, the College’s new home will be almost six times the size of 19 Bedford Square, providing the opportunity to create vastly enhanced facilities for students and staff. This will enable the College to continue to deliver an exceptional learning experience to its current students while providing disabled access and a more inclusive environment.

Positioned in the centre of SKD, the College will be located just a few minutes’ walk from the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. SKD also provides stunning river views and is home to dozens of restaurants, cafes, bars, and a leisure marina.

Professor A C Grayling, Master of the College, said, “This move creates the opportunity for the College to evolve and grow, diversify our portfolio of degree programmes, strengthen our links with Northeastern University, and also to develop relationships within our local community in order to widen participation, which the London Borough of Tower Hamlets is keen to support.

“The move will also facilitate the College’s establishment of its own, unique identity as a higher education institution that is strongly differentiated from other UK universities,” he added.
