Where to eat near NCH

Whether you’re in the mood for Insta-worthy brunch food, delicious pasta dishes or some must try London-foodie experience, you’ll find all of that and more in a less than 15 minute walk radius from college. So here’s a little list to help you out in case you need some inspiration of where to eat.


Knockbox Coffee, 29 LAMB’S CONDUIT STREET, WC1N 3NG

Distance: 15 minute walk

Cuisine: breakfast/brunch cuisine / coffee shop

Price range: £

Ideal for a quick coffee and offering great variety for breakfast, brunch and snack time, Knockbox are known for their great coffee and homemade cakes. Don’t be surprised if you step into a photo shoot though, as it is often frequented by the men’s fashion retailers who work on this street, making their appearances and use of the cafe quite a casual affair.

Fabrique, 239 HIGH HOLBORN, WC1V 7EW

Have you ever heard of the danish word hygge? Hygge represents the acknowledgement of a feeling or moment, in a comfy and cosy fashion. This is basically what Fabrique’s vibe is all about. With the scent of freshly baked sourdough and sweet pink peonies, Fabrique offers amazing oat milk lattes and glorious cinnamon buns.

Redemption Roasters, 84B LAMB’S CONDUIT STREET, WC1N 3LR

Also known as the Lawyer’s cafe or “coffee with a conscience”, Redemption Roasters are in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, training young offenders to be baristas and with that, changing lives and reducing reoffense rates. They are well known on their street for pastries, cookies, cakes and brownies. However they also cover brunch items such as avocado on toast, chorizo beans on toast and brie as well as salad stuffed sourdough sandwiches

Caffe Vergnano 1882 62 CHARING CROSS ROAD, WC2H 0BU

Distance: 12 minute walk

Cuisine: Italian coffee roasters

Price range: ££

A very Italiano coffee accompanied by flapjacks and cakes alongside a breakfast menu of Nutella, jam and honey topped toast, omelettes and porridge. This little Italian coffee shop seems to do it all.


The Black Penny, 34 GREAT QUEEN STREET, WC2B 5AA

Distance: 13 min walk

Price range: ££

Black Penny offers some great bacon, sausage and egg buns and several veg-packed versions of their Instagram-famous polenta hash, they always have a good stock of seasonal salads, quiches, soups and stews ready to placate your hunger all day long.

Hubbard and Bell THE HOXTON, 199-206 HIGH HOLBORN, WC1V 7BD

Distance: 10 minute walk

Price range: ££

Offering locally sourced and seasonal dishes such as beetroot salad, green pea ravioli and the Hox protein bowl, this place will always have some . They also offer a proper cup of coffee, deliciously indulgent brownies and natural wines

(P.S. Friday evening, it’s one of the liveliest drinking spots in the area, serving cocktails and draught beers)

Cheese fans unite, welcome to a temperature-controlled cheese room, a deli filled with enough speciality cheeses, breads and condiments to sink a small ship and a kitchen cooking up seasonal jams, chutneys, marmalades, preserves and pickles. It really is something for cheese fans and even if you are not a cheese fan it might just be worth the experience.

As one of the longest running restaurants in the area, it is known for serving steaming bowls of pasta, topping-stacked pizza and generous portions of fresh seafood daily. Definitely worth a visit.

Known as the Mini-me of the award-winning Murano, this smaller establishment offers Northern Italian dishes such as prosciutto, crispy shallot topped beef carpaccio and spinach, ricotta as well as sage butter tortellini and so much more.

Price range: ££-£££

Another of Holborn’s longest running eateries, Cigala is all about traditional Spanish tapas. They offer amazing dishes such as chorizo-packed paellas, salted Marcona almonds and Jamón Ibérico black foot ham, Gordal green olives and crispy patatas bravas. It’s a nice taste of summer in cold gray London.

The Fryers Delight, 9 THEOBALDS ROAD, WC1X 8SL

Cuisine: Fish and chips

The Fryer’s Delight opened in 1962 and is still serving generously portioned battered haddock, salty chips and mushy peas in a charming 60’s decor. This fish and chips joint does both eat ins and takeaways wrapped in newspaper with a pickled egg from the jar behind the counter. A must visit if you’re ever feeling like you need a good fish and chips.

Noble Rot started out as an independently published magazine, produced by wine lovers for wine lovers, it then grew into something more concrete; an upstairs bar, serving wines for as little as £4 a glass and deliciously good bread and butter, as well as a dining room downstairs.
