Atlanta’s Mulled Wine

White Mulled Wine

Ingredients:

  • 2 bottles medium white wine
  • 500ml bottle light cider
  • 150ml elderflower cordial
  • Zest of 2 lemons (pared into strips with a vegetable peeler)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 vanilla pod, split
  • 4-5 tbsp caster sugar

Method:

  1. Put all ingredients into a pan. Heat slowly for about 20 minutes, occasionally stirring, until steaming.
    Do not let it boil!
  2. Ladle into glasses and enjoy!

 

Red Mulled Wine

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of red wine
  • 35ml brandy
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 star anise
  • Half an orange, studded with cloves
  • 5 tbsp caster sugar

Method:

  1. Put all ingredients into a pan. Heat slowly for about 20 minutes, occasionally stirring, until steaming.
    Do not let it boil!
  2. Ladle into glasses and enjoy!
